City Year London is a charity organisation engages 18 to 25 year olds in a year of full-time tutoring and mentoring in London primary and secondary schools. They welcome mature overseas students with upper intermediate level of English to spend 11 months in school-based teams to improve children’s lives by serving as tutors, mentors and role models in London schools, and they improve themselves through intensive leadership and professional development.
Volunteers receive £100 per week, plus money for a travelcard each week, and they can additionally receive £1,000 upon completing the year-long programme, which runs on the school calendar.
